Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure standing atop delineated legs and holding her hands together above an incised loincloth. Her minimalist visage is composed of coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, and full lips beneath a centrally parted coiffure. Red pigment adorns her necklace, eyes, and hair, and suggests that the figure was at one time painted with vivid color.
